| DR. JULIUS CHARBA
TET – T-20-621 – (24”-EMRe-5.5”-Ev) – LAVENDER BLUE BABY SDLG. X MRS. JOHN COOPER - A very special lily named for a very special person. Julius has been a close friend for the last 45 years. We were college roommates at Texas A & I University and our first daylily trip was to the Russell Gardens of Spring, Texas around 1960. Julius went on to receive his doctoral degree and took his position at the University of Central Florida where he has continued to serve in the field of Bacteriology. He is now active in his love of daylilies and serves presently as president of the Sunbelt Daylily Club in the Orlando area. He comes to the Lily Farm each spring and helps with the daylilies and hybridizing. It is with pleasure that I present the cultivar DR. JULIUS CHARBA. Since lavender blue is one of Julius’s favorite colors it was no surprise at all when he selected this one to be his namesake. The heavy substance flowers are pristine beautiful in the morning with their lavender base color and large, widespread, bluish-lavender watermarks that blend into a soft yellow green to green throat. Performance is unrivaled with repeating scapes coming in the bloom season and having 6 way branching with 44 buds or more per scape. Single fans set last fall have produced four or more scapes this year bearing as many as 150 blooms total. That is real performance. Fertile both ways.
