2009 SPRING RELEASES

Dear Friends

Here we are again arriving at the beginning of another year. It has been an eventful year for our nation and world. With the many serious matters we see on the national and world scene to occupy much of our time, what rest and peace it brings when we can take refuge and rest in our gardens and the beauty of nature. Everyone does not have even that privilege in our world. We have much to be thankful for in spite of all of it. All of you have continued to be much of our inspiration and motivation in all of these years as we pursue our work with daylilies. Thank you ever so much for your words of commendation and encouragement to us concerning our work here with the flowers. We appreciate so much your patience here in the garden when we are so busy and it takes us time to get around to everyone.

It has been a dry year here again which seems to be true for most of the last seven years. Even with two hurricanes during this time the rainfall has been less. We came through Hurricane Ike with little damage other than power failure for a week or so. We had a very good season this past year in our seed setting and were able to make what we hope will be some very productive crosses. That yet remains to be revealed to us during this bloom season, and therein is found the great excitement and anticipation we love in this work.

Some of the most exciting releases of our diploid patterned eyes appear in this spring’s brochure. We hope all of you will find pleasure in looking over our Spring 2009 Releases and that you find something that pleases you. We wish for each of you the best season ever and invite you to come once again to our farm during our bloom season.

Thank You

Jack Capenter
